Spring Gardening Tip from Banana Chronicles:

Did you know that you can use your leftover banana peels as fertilizer for your flowers and vegetables? It’s pretty easy, and they add key nutrients such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, sulfur and phosphates. Just follow these quick easy steps and you’ll have the start of a healthy garden in no time.

  1. Dry your saved banana peels over time or heat in the oven until the outside of the peel is hard and brown.
  2. Chop up into smaller pieces to speed up the “natural breaking down” of the banana peel into the healthy nutrients.
  3. Mix into the soil before planting and you’ll have an organic material that’s not only healthy but helps retain water.
